Acne is a very common skin condition that causes pimples. You’ll usually get pimples on your face due to clogged pores. Teenagers and young adults are most prone to get acne/pimples, but it can also occur during adulthood for many people.
What will happen if you left it untreated?
If you leave your acne untreated, severe acne can leave life-long scars on your skin. Taking care of your skin and treating your acne reduces the risk of this occurring. Treating infected pimples is important since inflamed cysts caused by infected skin can often leave a scar.

In this stage, your skin usually consists of comedones (blackheads). This usually appear more on your T-Zone. Additionally, a few papules which are small little red breakouts that typically appears on your cheeks. These usually are minimal and tend to be occasional.
In the next stage, there will be more blemishes that appeared besides the T-Zone area and lesions can occur anywhere in the face. Your skin will also tend to have closed comedones (whiteheads). Some of these will have mild inflammation. On top of whiteheads, there will also be papules and pustules (also known as pimples)
If the previous stage was not well taken care of, the little inflammation will be marked and there will be a lot of papules and pustules all over the face. Since the lesions occur near to each other, it will cause them to merge with each other. When these happens, it will cause skin damage, such as scarring and pigmentation) even without squeezing.
This is the most severe case of acne where by the blemishes are large. The severity of these acne can spread all over the face, neck, shoulders and even back. These cysts will look like boils or big blister which contains pus inside. In this stage, firm and hard bumps called nodules will also be present. Scarring is also very common in Cystic acne as the lesions are deep.
